About Me!

I'm an Indian writer-filmmaker, with my most popular work being the I Won't Series - a niche award winning film duology about overcoming your past.

I grew up in the neon-drenched streets of Kolkata, fascinated by the broken city's unbroken resilience. I was surrounded by bucolic pockets eaten by rapid urbanization, as I myself devoured all forms of stories from the visual to the literary. I was introduced to video games in a cramped studyroom since before I could read, learning most of my English from the same, thus embedding ludonarration deep within my body.

If I were asked to point towards things that have shaped my writing, I would talk about a fairly introverted childhood, uneasy and turbulent friendships, a steadfast brotherly bond  and a fear that I wouldn't be able to follow my dreams. I'm happy to say, though, that I currently am! I like experiences that are unconventional, and my writing attempts to reflect that, putting the spotlight on people with broken dreams and identities.

 

While being in university has me spending a lot of time in classes, every ounce of my free-time is essentially reserved for creating. Often, my days have started with a 7am shoot, a 10 am class running till 4:30pm, and a 5:30pm shoot that runs till 11:30pm, when I'm deep into making a movie with the crazy idea of finishing it in 3 months! 

I have always been surrounded by people in academia, with professors for parents, and an aspiring one for a brother. Academia has influenced my approach to any medium I work in, prioritizing telling stories that understand their form. Currently, I am also an English and Creative Writing student, with a minor in Sociology and Anthropology and a concentration in Media Studies. When I'm not reading, writing or shooting, you'll find me studying languages (like Ancient Greek!), debating existentialism, drawing, being on the stage and translating Bengali works.

Currently, I am working on my video game (Project: Ambrosia) to tell an unconventional story of regret, and not turning out the way you thought you would. I am also working on two other feature film scripts, that I hope to produce soon!
